Learn techniques for making band, coil, and textured ring styles – construction techniques, proper sizing, and setting gemstones, if desired. Explore the ancient art of Kumihimo, a Japanese braiding technique. Students will learn the traditional 8-cord round braid and how to incorporate beads into the design. Class fee includes a kumihimo disc which can be used to make additional bracelets and necklaces. Once you learn the pattern you can create kumihimo braids using cord, silk, and wire.

Please note: Project may not be completed in class, but students will leave with the knowledge and findings necessary to complete the bracelet.

Mokume gane is a Japanese technique of combining different metals together to create beautiful patterns reminiscent of wood-grain. When working using traditional metalsmithing techniques it can be a very labor-intensive process that requires special tools and equipment. Luckily this technique can be done in metal clay, saving time and material. In this class, you will learn several mokume gane techniques using Art Clay Copper and Silver to create stunning one-of-a-kind jewelry.
